I have just divorced after 22 years of marriage. We were together for 25 years. 20 years ago my ex husband received a workers compensation payment of $130k. 2 years before our marriage ended he also received $170k inheritance from a family member. I have worked all my life. We have 2 children. Only 1 still lives at home with me. My ex husband has agreed to give me half of our joint assets however he wants me to then pay him back the $130k compensation money and the $170k inheritance. He says that I'm not entitled to any of that money as it was for him. I am not sure if this is right. It seems like after 25 years I am coming out of a marriage with a big debt. Not sure how it works???
