The patient who seeks to recover damages from the dentist for dental malpractice must establish that the dentist’s negligence caused foreseeable harm to the patient. The patient can claim damages for pain and suffering, cost of medical treatments and medication, hospital bills, attendant and other care, loss of earning capacity and loss of income and the loss of enjoyment of life. However, damages will be awarded only if there is causal link between the method of care in question and the harm. The dentist should really have foreseen or ought to have foreseen the risk.
