My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California
Hi all,
I did a little search before posting but was not able to find the exact situation, so I'd much appreciate it if you can direct me to the right thread if necessary.
My dad was involved in a car accident in which the other person ran a red-light (also speeding) and hit my dad's car. We have the phone #s of 2 witnesses who are willing to testify and the police report - pretty much all signaling that the other driver is at fault. My dad was taken to the ER for physical tests and some antibiotics treatments right after the accident, he has some minor bruises and back pain. Our car is completely totaled and so is the other party's car.
Our insurance company is willing to compensate our car at a value slightly higher than KBB value, which we are happy with. However, our insurance policy does not cover the car rental fee nor the ER fee (I appreciate one of the witnesses calling an ambulance, but no idea how much this will cost). I am thinking about hiring a lawyer to talk to the other insurance company to cover our car rental, ER, and future chiropractor fee. So my question is - is hiring a lawyer necessary for this kind of claim? IS there anymore i can get out of this accident by hiring a lawyer? Not trying to 'scam' the other party, but obviously the more compensation I can get out of this collision, the more medical help my dad can receive.
Thank you so much for reading and Happy 2013!
