Hi all,
appreciate the forums so I recently joined to ask some questions.
A brief outline.
22 year de facto relationship ended recently.
No children.
No assets brought into relationship. All assets gained during relationship.
I paid all rent and all accounts throughout. In 2007 we jointly purchased a house. We used my life savings and her inheritance. Me $110,000 her $80,000. I paid all mortgage payments and accounts. I have superannuation in a defined benefit Government scheme that I've been a member of for 22 years. She has 10,000 in a retail super fund. She didn't want to work and when she did get part time work didn't contribute financially. House work was shared. I did ground maintenance and some household chores. I also did a lot of home improvements eg driveways, entertainment areas, storm water drainage and so on. She did house hold chores. I also have an asset worth about $30,000.
Her lawyers claim 55% her way due to her being the homemaker throughout.
Do the courts actually look at the financial and non financial contributions I made or are the facts of my contributions all eroded due to her being a "homemaker"?
It's grossly unfair that someone who has not contributed and didn't want to are rewarded unjustly.
Cheers
