After a motor vehicle accident, damage done to your car, injury sustained by you or any other loss or damage can be compensated by contacting the relevant insurance companies. Motor vehicle accidents can result in vehicular damages or personal injuries. If you want compensation for damage done to your car, injury you have suffered or any other loss or expense you have incurred, you will have to deal with the relevant insurance companies. Claims for the personal injury compensation can be made to the insurers of the other drivers involved in the accident, while claims for the damage done to your car can be made to the insurance company which has insured your car. In either case, however, getting the money claimed can be difficult, as the insurance companies use strict criteria when determining whether a claim should be accepted. However, there are a couple of things that you will need to keep in mind when you negotiate with the relevant insurance company. The first thing is, you should never give up. If the insurance company rejects the offer you make to settle your claim, you can make a new offer and see what the insurance company’s response to it is. Every time you make a new offer you can give the insurance company some addition information about the accident and your financial position to persuade them to accept the claim. Whenever you write to your insurance company, make sure you use the words “without prejudice” on the top of your letter. When those words are used, such letters or other correspondence cannot be used against you as confessions or admissions. It will also be important to make notes of the conversations you make with the insurance company. The date of the conversation and the name of the person you had it with must also be recorded. Sometimes, it may also be necessary to discuss your matter with financial counsellors and lawyers and see how you can make a better claim.
