The two authoritative legal encyclopaedias in Australia are the Halsbury's Laws of Australia published by Butterworths and the Laws of Australia published by LBC. These are both held at the State Library of Victoria, but you will have to visit the library. They cover statute and case law and are organised alphabetically by subject. They provide a comprehensive outline to the subject. Halsbury's Laws of Australia covers all subjects and is still being published.
Findlaw Australia contains comprehensive information on Australian legal issues. Offers a range of free services including current awareness newsletters, primary law, an events calendar and extensive links to other primary and secondary legal material and research resources. There are also articles covering around 50 areas of law sourced from lawyers, firms, government and non-profit organisations. These are divided into resources for legal professionals, students, business and the public.
