Today I was told by my GM that I was fired from my job at (deleted). This decision was not made by herself but by the Task force manager. Her motive that was to to my GM was that I was seen on camera behind the front desk hugging and kissing a coworker/friend of mine on my scheduled day off (New Years Eve). Also for helping tend to customers as a rush came in the same day. All this after I refused to work the night in question, due to plans with the coworker in question. My question is this grounds for termination? or have my rights been violated?
I myself am a college student that works three nights a week overnight as a laundry/ guest service rep. I have worked with this company almost a year, my reasoning is this is my first instance of trouble of any kind. This came completely out of the blue, there were no warning, no write ups, or paperwork of any kind. To be fired on these grounds are ludicrous in my opinion.
