I was employed as a Phlebotomist/Lab Technician for 20 years. In 2005 I was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. My employer at the time allowed me to resign my position. I was able to gain employment within 2 weeks with an employer whom I had previously worked. I entered and completed a diversion program for my criminal charge and all charges were dismissed in Nov. 2007. I maintained my employment reducing from full-time to on call status while I worked full time for another employer. I returned to full-time and remained until Oct. 2009. At that time I had a disagreement with my manager which resulted in her firing me. I immediately attempted to appeal the firing but was told by the HR manager that my manager reported I had resigned and therefore I was unable to appeal. I gained employment in another field while continuing to pursue employment in the Laboratory profession. In June 2010 I was offered employment for a local Health Care System. I completed my physical, obtained employee id, was assigned a parking permit and scheduled for orientation. I submitted a 2 week notice of resignation at my employer and completed the final 2 weeks of employment. An hour and a half after finishing my last day and 3 days prior to my scheduled orientation the offer of employment was withdrawn for I what I was told was not being completely honest on my application. I was later told they had learned I had left a previous employer without giving any notice. I was barred from reapplying for 1 year. After more than a year and a half I was given an interview by the same employer. I never received any response to the interview despite multiple telephone and email inquiries. I have since been unable to get 1 interview at any of the local Health Care Providers despite numerous applications. All I receive is generic responses of rejection. The largest of the local Health Systems has a high level manager who has a personal dislike for me based on her belief I had tried to get her fired at a previous job. Can anybody offer me advice other than give up on the career I love?
