Queensland abortion law is contained within the Queensland Criminal Code in sections 224-226. Section 224 states that a doctor who performs an abortion commits a crime, section 225 that a woman procuring an abortion commits a crime, and section 226 that anyone providing any substance or thing to aid the abortion commits a crime. There are substantial terms of imprisonment attached to these sections. widely considered to deserve at the very least some mitigation of punishment to reflect reduced culpability.
