The Federal Government recently announced that they will provide a certificate of no impediment to same-sex Australian couples who wants to get married overseas. A certificate of no impediment, also known as Certificate of Legal Capacity is a requirement from some countries to validate that the same-sex couple is over 18 years old, not married, and there is no obstruction or impediment to them getting married.According to Attorney-General Nicola Roxon, the certificate does not mean that same-sex marriage is recognised in Australia but a removal of discrimination.
