A ban can be of two types. An interim ban is imposed by the relevant State or territory minister and it lasts for only 60 days. It can be extended for another 60 days. A permanent ban is imposed by the Commonwealth minister only. It will last until it is revoked. When a ban is imposed on a consumer good, it will be unlawful to supply, offer to supply, manufacture, posses or have control of it. When a ban is imposed on a product related service, it will be unlawful to supply or to offer to supply that service.
