Losses a person may suffer due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident can be classified into two broad categories, as economic losses and non economic losses. Economic losses are verifiable financial losses. Non economic losses are however not quantifiable and therefore they are difficult to be assessed. In most cases, the pain and suffering the injured person has undergone as a result of the injuries and loss of enjoyment of life are claimed as non economic losses. However, there are various limitations on what can be claimed as non economic losses.
