In normal sense, probate is actually called the process of proving and registering in the court the last Will of a dead person. When a person dies, someone needs to take care of his or her estate. Wills normally list existing heirs by name, giving confirmation of family interaction. Wills and probate records can often be precious when researching Australian relatives.
To preserve the interests of those who hold the deceased's property like banks, the executor may be asked to confirm they are certified to administer the Will before the assets can be unrestricted. The Grant of Probate is the verification essential.
An executor can be a person or a company similar to the Public Trustee. Once a Grant of Probate has been given, administration of the deceased's property can safely be transferred to the executor.
