When the consumer goods may injury someone or using them in a reasonably foreseeable way may injury someone, when the consumer goods do not comply with a safety standard and when the consumer goods are subject to a ban, the Commonwealth, State or territory minister responsible for administrating Australia Consumer laws may issue a compulsory recall notice on the supplier of such consumer goods. However, the minister has to be satisfied that the supplier has not taken adequate steps to prevent the consumer goods in question from injuring someone. When a recall is contemplated, the Commonwealth Minister is required to give the supplier of the goods in question a proposed recall notice. This will also be published on the internet. If there is no imminent danger to the public, the minister is required to give the supplier an opportunity to request a conference with the Australia Competition and Consumer Commission.
